Public Service Awards
Each year, COSSAR provides Medals and Commendation awards to Colorado Police, Fire, and Prehospital personnel whose actions go 'Above and Beyond the Call of Duty'. Recipients of these awards may be identified by their peers, community leaders, the media, or by a COSSAR member familiar with the incident.

We also support the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) in our state's high schools, as well as, the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in our state's colleges and universities by providing awards to outstanding high school and college cadets as selected by their schools.

The Colorado Society supports our state's first responders, military members, and public servants. Each year, we recognize individuals and departments for their bravery and selfless acts of service to their communities.
Eagle Scout Award

The winner of the 2012 COSSAR Eagle Scout Competition is Eagle Scout Liam Kelley, Troop 235, Western Colorado Council. Liam is pictured with the state Eagle Scout trophy, and was also presented a $250 Scholarship check, at the Annual President's Day Luncheon.

The Colorado Society of the Sons of the American Revolution proudly supports Scouting America units located in Colorado by providing an annual certificate of recognition and medal at both the chapter and state levels. Upon completing the application and submitting an original 500-word essay on some aspect of the American Revolution, the selected state winner receives the SAR Eagle Scout Trophy and $250 for post high school education. The COSSAR Eagle Scout Award Trophy and a $250 Scholarship check is a distinguished is given to the most accomplished Eagle Scout in the State as judged on: Leadership in the Unit; Merit Badges: Scouting, Community, Religious and School Activities, ability to research one's own ancestors, and an essay on a American Revolution subject. Our state winner goes on to compete at the National Level for additional awards for his hard work as an Eagle Scout. Parents of the winning Eagle Scout are always invited, as are other prominent members of Scouting America.​

We work closely with our communities to keep alive the Patriotic ideals for our ancestors who fought and died in the American Revolution.

Flag Certificate
for the display of the AMERICAN FLAG

The Flag Certificate, authorized in 1987, is presented to individuals, companies, and goverment agencies that display the United States flag for patriotic purposes. It is not to be given to any commercial enterprise that flies it for advertising purposes. A chapter, state, or the National Society can present the award. The certificate has a line in the lower left corner for the name of the appropriate organization to be engrossed.
